More projects, more users, more employees
From A for application to E for ETCS to V for version 11, 2017 was full of great moments, exciting topics and successful developments.
The digitalisation continues to grow in all areas of life, including the planning of rail-bound transport. RMCon contributes to these processes by cooperating with the Institute of Transport, Railway Construction and Operation of the TU Braunschweig in the field of research as well as further developing and distributing RailSys®.
Especially RailSys® MapPortal, the web-application of the RailSys® Software Suite, is employed more and more and in high demand by international railway companies. RailSys® MapPortal is ideal for the construction management. Under the heading “Driving + Construction” we provide an unobstructed coordination of construction works and the resulting timetable changes for infrastructure managers and railway operators.
Within the past year, we have accompanied a great number of users in discovering the web-application RailSys® MapPortal in short feedback sessions. These exciting and eventful meetings are held both before and during the operation and provide a direct input for our further developments that we advance with the continuous goal to incorporate our customers’ requests and needs into our products.
We have also trained many clients in the use of RailSys® Workstation or RailSys® Enterprise to enable them to work even more effectively with our software and use it to its full potential. The number of RailSys® users that participated in a training in 2017 has increased by 50 per cent in comparison to the previous year.
Around 40 clients were present at our RailSys® user meeting in Sweden, allowing them to meet other RailSys® users and discuss each other’s projects. This was a great opportunity for us to receive a direct feedback from our clients and learn about their preferences or requests in the practical application of RailSys®.
A major topic that was discussed repeatedly at the user meeting, but at other trainings and further conversations with our customers as well, is the European Train Control System (ETCS). The train control system is required by EU law and still difficult to understand for many users. In 2015, we implemented the ETCS calculation in RailSys® version 10 and thus support e.g. the calculation of capacity, run times, braking curves and further parameters in consideration of the requirements ever since. RailSys® models ETCS in accordance to the specifications of the ERA.
This past year, we have presented ETCS and many more features at four trade fairs. Along with our partners of IVE mbH, we were represented at transport logistic in Munich. We also participated at the Elmia Nordic Rail in Sweden. In November, we were a part of the new fair Hypermotion in Frankfurt, which focused on the combination of traffic and digitalisation. At the same time, our Australian branch exhibited at the AusRAIL in Brisbane.
If you were not able to catch up with us at a fair in 2017, we recommend to note down the following date: from 18 to 21 September 2018, the InnoTrans is taking place in Berlin. Of course, we will participate at the largest traffic fair and look forward to seeing you then.
Apart from trade fairs, we also presented our company at various career fairs of different universities to students and graduates. We participated at meet@hochschule-hannover, Messe der Bahnindustrie in Sankt Pölten, Expect! in Wolfsburg as well as KonaktMesse Verkehr in Dresden. RMCon was able to grow by 20 per cent in the personnel department. We are very excited about the professional support of our new colleagues.
We dedicated ourselves to young people again this year and invited children to spend their career day with us. Along with our colleagues from IVE mbH, we granted an insight into our work and company. Even though their careers will only start in a few years, it is important to show perspectives and strengthen personal interests.
For a while, our clients have been interested in the release of a new RailSys® version, which will be coming soon. RailSys®11 is in the starting blocks and waiting to be released. Early in 2018, you will be able to upgrade to the newest RailSys® version. We will inform you about the exact date as soon as possible.
We now wish you a wonderful Advent and Christmas season and a happy new year 2018.
